Can a non-asian work at an asian restaurant?

i want to work at a japanese restaurant near my house becuzz i luv japanese food and need a job and i was gonna apply there but dunno if they are gonna accept me for being a white-american. iwant to be one of those people who cleans off peoples tables. so what do you think about this? btw im 17.
